Abstract

Myocardial fibrosis is a significant pathological change in various cardiac diseases and is associated with adverse outcomes such as heart failure and arrhythmias. Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) has emerged as a powerful tool for the early detection of myocardial fibrosis, offering high-resolution images and the ability to assess myocardial tissue characteristics. This article reviews the role of CMR in identifying myocardial fibrosis, discusses the underlying mechanisms, and explores its implications for clinical practice.
