Abstract

Strain imaging is a non-invasive echocardiographic technique that offers a more sensitive and earlier detection of left ventricular (LV) dysfunction compared to traditional measures of LV function, such as ejection fraction (EF). It provides detailed insights into myocardial deformation during the cardiac cycle, identifying subtle changes in myocardial contractility even when global EF remains preserved. This review focuses on the clinical applications of strain imaging, particularly in diagnosing and managing left ventricular dysfunction, and how it can aid in risk stratification and guide therapeutic interventions.
