Metabolic diseases such as diabetes mellitus and metabolic syndrome are considered as major risk factor for acute cardiovascular events,. Adiponectin, a crucial molecule in metabolic disorders, has anti-atherogenic characteristics. Future myocardial infarction risk and coronary artery disease (CAD) are linked to low plasma adiponectin levels.
