Abstract

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a prevalent yet often undiagnosed condition with significant health implications. This study employed the STOP-Bang questionnaire as a screening tool to assess OSA risk in a sample of 498 individuals in Indian population. Results indicated that approximately 50% of the individuals were at high risk for OSA, with a higher prevalence among males. Age and snoring were identified as contributing factors. This screening tool effectively stratifies patients, aiding in resource allocation and early diagnosis. Dentistry, equipped with knowledge of oral appliances, plays a crucial role in OSA management, both in identification and treatment. The STOP-Bang questionnaire proves to be a reliable and efficient method for OSA risk assessment and resource allocation.
